Domestic Abuse
You don’t sleep at night. You never know when the bomb will go off . . . or what will set off your spouse or significant other. You live with constant anxiety while trying to hide bruises. You work hard to make sure everything is “just right” so nothing can fuel your attacker’s fire. You try to calm things down to protect your children and yourself. You would be extremely humiliated if anyone found out what really goes on behind closed doors. There is no “stereotype” of abused women. Many are smart women who have simply found themselves in a very difficult position.
The list goes on. Is this what you are facing?
There is a way out.
- First, either call the National Domestic Violence Hotline (consider using a payphone so your activities cannot be traced) at 800-799-SAFE (7233) OR go to www.ndvh.org (please do not access with your home computer that can be traced. Instead, use a friend’s computer or the computer at the library). They can help you and your call will remain anonymous. You need to talk to someone who knows what you are going through and who can help you get out
- Second, consider protecting yourself by gathering evidence of the abuse. Be careful but be strong and willing to do what it takes to ensure your safety and the safety of your children. It is your first priority as a parent and your kids come first.
- With AISG, we have investigative equipment you can use in court. It is imperative that you carefully consider what type of equipment you would invest in that would not be detected by your abuser. Just as a pre-paid phone is part of protecting yourself so you can have a safe way to reach out for help, a discrete surveillance camera can help you to prove your perpetrator’s violent side.
- Finding an undetectable area for a camera or other type of equipment to stay – without being found – is imperative to your safety.
Please check out our “Spy Shop” and call us (again, using a friend’s phone so the call cannot be discovered in caller ID) to discuss the best options for you.
